VI Peel

Chemical peels are known for their exfoliation power. Historically, the deeper peels that affected the superficial and mid layers of the skin were known to cause a bit of discomfort. The VI Peel® has been designed as a medium-strength peel that gets deep-peel benefits. It’s formulated with a specific combination of ingredients, including:

• Salicylic acid (10 to 12 percent)
• Phenol (10 to 12 percent)
• Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) (10 to 12 percent)
• Vitamin C (4 percent)
• Tretinoin (0.1 to 0.4 percent)

This chemical peel can correct tone and textural problems related to aging, sun damage, acne, and other factors. Some of the improvements you can expect from a VI Peel® include:

• Correction of discoloration and age spots
• More consistent skin tone across the entire face
• Reduction in fine lines
• Smaller pore size
• Smoother overall texture
• Correction of keratosis pilaris

The VI Peel® can be an excellent treatment for acne as well as acne scars. According to studies, people with acne-prone skin typically tolerate light and medium chemical peels very well. The VI Peel® may help improve a number of aspects of your skin that are involved in frequent breakouts. With this peel, we can:

• Reduce oil production
• Destroy acne-causing bacteria
• Soothe inflammation
• Unclog pores and reduce pore size

The salicylic acid in the VI Peel® has been shown remarkably effective in the correction of acne scarring.

Getting a VI Peel is a different experience than any other type of chemical peel. The steps to this peel begin in the office and end at home.

• At our office, we’ll cleanse the skin in the treatment area to remove oil and dirt.
• We’ll apply a layer of the VI Peel solution. You may feel tingling or stinging as it soaks in.
• We’ll apply a second layer of the solution, after which your skin will turn white.
• You’ll leave the office with the peel solution still on your skin.
• After four to six hours, you’ll wash your face using a gentle cleanser.

This peel is designed to slough off the uppermost layers of the skin to achieve clinical results. You can expect peeling to begin about three days after your treatment. This can become significant and can last until about seven days post-treatment. Aside from peeling and flaking, there is a chance that other side effects could occur. These are all normal and may include:

• Redness
• Dry skin
• Inflammation
• A burning sensation
• Swelling
• Itchiness
• Skin discoloration
